Net Neutrality Post Pt 2

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about it more. Of course, my position is still the same, I like my internet the way it is. But I’ve come up with some actual points as to why.

First of all, there’s the classic reasons everyone uses: It’ll kill small businesses trying to start up on the internet, kill people’s attempts trying to express themselves, etc.

But it’ll also screw up the entire hosting industry. Think about it. With net neutrality gone, people would have to pay to get faster internet access. This might be done in a variety of ways. First of all, it might be on a per server/ip basis, or on a per domain basis. Then, there’s whether the hosting company would pay for it, or whether the customer would pay. If the hosting company had to pay, they’d have to raise their prices and the customer would pay more either way. That’d cut into profits of hosting companies a lot, and I’m sure many would close. Free hosting would have more ads on it, since that’s how they make their money. With higher prices/more ads, less people would buy hosting. Or, there’s the companies that decide not to pay the fees for fast access. No one will buy from them either, since the speeds would suck.

And thus, do your part and help Save the Internet today!
